As Ed’s daughter, I don’t think it’s very convincing for me to say what a brilliant artist Dad was, that’s a given. But what was more compelling about his art, were the processes he went through to achieve the end results.
He was meticulous and methodical, yet gave the impression that his brush strokes were impromptu, or free and easy. I admired his tenacity, his desire to capture and do justice to his muse, rather than feed his ego of artistic licence.
I loved that he loved painting. I loved that he saw most things from the end of a brush like a photographer seeing life through a lens. He was more than an artist, he was a lifelong learner, a mentor and sought after tutor. He shared his gift and talent so that others could revel in their own creativity. Thanks Poppa.
Enjoy his art. It was a lifetime’s passion and it’s wonderful that his legacy lives through this forum.
